Wedding Dress Code: Cocktail, Semi-formal, Festive!
Some helpful links....
Why three dress code descriptions?
We want our guests to have fun with the opportunity to dress up and look their fanciest, but also don't want to railroad anyone into an over-expensive outfit they'll only ever wear once. We love a formal party dress and we love flexibility and comfort. Come dressed to look and feel your best—whatever that means for you!
So what do they mean?
Cocktail and semi-formal dress codes often have heavy overlap, and you will find similar outfit examples in both dress codes. For our wedding, while dressing all out to the nines is a perfectly fine option, cocktail and semi-formal allows for a step down from a fully formal dress code.
Some examples of acceptable semi-formal and cocktail outfits include:
classic suits or tuxedos with a tie
floor-length, midi, or knee-length dresses
dressy pantsuits, jumpsuits, or separates
sports jackets or smart blazers with a tie
evening or cocktail dresses
Meanwhile, festive attire is a bold and bright take on the wedding dress code: balancing the best of both formal and casual aesthetics. You can choose elegant, sophisticated silhouettes (like the examples above) while letting your inner maximalist go all out with vibrant colors, cheerful prints, and fun textures.
